Our Daily Routine

For a lot of parents, routine is literally what we rely on. For others however, it's very difficult. I'm hoping that by sharing our basic school day routine, it may help someone get an idea of me that works. After all, all our lives are very different, but this is ours anyway, the timings are mostly a rough guideline.

6.30-7am: Woken up by either Mollie or alarm - wake Leigha up, all go downstairs, change mollies nappy and go into the kitchen.
7.05am: Breakfast together
7.20am: Get girls dressed, Leigha goes upstairs and washes etc then I do Leigha's hair.
7.30am: I get dressed, have a wash etc
7.45: Coats and shoes on and we leave the house.
We now have a 35-40min walk to school - I know we're crazy! I then walk home!!

9.20am: Home and I die on the sofa for about 10mins!!
9.30am: House work starting upstairs, I have to take mollie with me or the world will end and the tears will flow. So bedrooms, make beds, open curtains, take washing out, vacuum floors (3times a week usually), throw some bleach round the bathroom, put toothbrushes back in the bloody pot and remove any badly discarded loo roll tubes!!
Downstairs to clean the kitchen, empty bins, clear dining table of any crap even though it was done yesterday, vacuum the livingroom and take any of Leighas stuff up to her room. Generally that's done. This may of course be interrupted by crying baby, nappy changes, mid morning bottle and nap (pleaaaase nap!!) and then hopefully I make a half decent lunch and don't just raid the fridges treat drawer.
2pm: leave to collect Leigha from school - another crazy walk and home again!

3.30-3.45pm: Home with kids and die on sofa again. Let's face it I've walked for nearly 3hrs without help from the housework. Why am I chunky? Oh yeah... the snack drawer!!😬
4.45pm: Time to cook one of two things, either a fresh homemade meal cooked from scratch with love and care, or waffles and fish fingers. Depends on the day and how many tantrums I've had to endure. Leigha tidys the toys away for me, earning her pocket money.
6pm: Bathtime - Mollies fave time of day! Followed by moisturising, Pjs, milk and cuddles before bed. While mollie starts off her bottle, Leigha cuddles her little sister on the sofa and mummy does the hoovering. Thus meaning the livingroom is done for the day. While the bath is running, I put away any clean clothes. The girls are downstairs chatting away in the kitchen.
6.30-7pm: Mollie falls asleep drinking her milk and I put her in bed. Time for mummy and Leigha time. So, now we do spellings, reading and some writing and at the weekends we watch cooking programmes together. Jamie Oliver is our fave!!
7.30pm: Leigha goes to bed, mummy comes down and does the dishes and the bottles and sweeps the floors etc.
8pm: I'm done for the day!! Bath/shower, PJs and naff telly!!

Would love to hear your routines!! Share and hopefully help another mum with your ideas 😘

Where we begin!

How do I even begin!?  I am Sam. A busy Mum of two girls. We have Leigha who is 6yrs old and Mollie who is currently 10mths old. Myself and my fiancé of nearly 6yrs lead a busy life. Matt (my fiancé) works as a kitchen manager and works a lot of hours, leaving me to do most of the children's care by myself. When he's home he's fabulous but generally speaking I've created a routine to suit me and he just blends in and helps when he's here.  A bit of backstory. My girls have different dads. My ex of 5yrs ended our relationship only to find out 6wks later that I'm expecting. Talk about timing. He's still in her life but fast forward til Leigha being 7mths (Feb 2011) old I met the most amazing man who I'm now proud to call my fiancé. We got together (4th march 2011)  and him being the young age of 19 (me being 21), decided to take me and Leigha on as a pre-started family, falling in love with us both. Him and Leigha have been close ever since. So mu...

I'm back 😀

Hi again everyone! So... I haven't posted anything for a while. Reason is I've gone back to work! Exciting and scary times. I've been fortunate enough to get a job with my fiancé. He is the kitchen manager and I'm a waitress/bar staff. While we don't work in the same room for most of the time, it works for us. I adore everyone I work with, along with Matt and myself, my brother and his girlfriend and Matts brother also worth with us. Turning it into a family business slowly! Haha! We work at a carvery based restaurant. It's a lovely family restaurant and it's very popular. I work part-time, a couple of days during the week and usually on a Sunday. I'm lucky enough that my mum has the kids for me. Usually just mollie but both girls on a Sunday and during school holidays. I've been working around a month now and I'm really enjoying it. I will not lie, I'm tired. Mentally and physically. It's very hard being away from Mollie. She's on...

Half term holidays so far...

This week is half term and we have our nephews staying with us for the week. So far we have done: Tuesday:  A 6mile walk and had lunch en route. On the walk we played football in a pitch we found in stony Stratford near the rocket park, we played tag and enjoyed ourselves. When we got home we relaxed and watched movies and had dinner. Wednesday: The boys dad (Matts brother) took the two boys and Leigha to the cinema to watch the lego batman movie and they had a great time. Matt was at work and so me and Mollie had some time at home to play and have sleepy cuddles (Our fave!!). We met Matt for his lunch break at work and we had a bite to eat too. Mollie had mashed potato and veggies. Loved it!! Later that afternoon/ evening we watched zootropolis and finding Dory. Both brilliant films!! Kids then had dinner and had baths and was put to bed. Today: my mother in law (also all the kids Nan) is visiting today. Matt isn't happy to be working but he finishes at 5pm and so he gets a ...
